About G:XL Collaborative Purchasing and 'Back Office' Functions

This work stream will support and encourage the development of partnership approaches which produce shared learning, add value and address economies of scale.  It will do this by developing collaborative models for bidding and tendering and for the procurement of materials and services, including ‘back-office' functions.

Overall Outcome:

By 2012, 100 VCS CYP organisations will report increased resources through collaborative learning clusters sharing of knowledge of policy, practice and development e.g. shared training, and through cost effectiveness of purchasing and ‘back office' collaboration.

Milestones:

Phase 1

Infrastructures organisations including VCS CYP sector will have established a collaboration ‘learning cluster' to support and facilitate learning across the G: up alliance, whilst identifying  and commissioned the commencement of a pilot project  to test the viability of a back room office function that will improve and benefit the effectiveness of CYP VCS organisations.

Phase 2 

40% of infrastructure organisations will have reported a better understanding of the value of collaborative purchasing and be participating in, or working towards collaborative purchasing activities.  The sustainable collaboration ‘learning cluster' will have identified and commissioned the commencement of a second pilot project to test the viability of a back room office function that will improve and benefit the effectiveness of CYP VCS organisations.

Phase 3

60% of infrastructure organisations will report increased involvement in collaborative purchasing and joint delivery projects.

Phase 4

75 other organisations will report an increase in collaborative projects leading to improved services for children and young people.
