WAYC Charity Golf Day

This spring, WAYC (Warwickshire Association of Youth Clubs) would like to host its largest charity golf day yet - on Thursday 14 June 2012, with a goal to reach 15 teams or more on the day. The fundraising event, which raises additional funds for WAYC youth activities, has been a male domain on the greens in the past, however in this Jubilee year WAYC would like to attract additional mixed or female only teams. WAYC would also be interested in hearing from local businesses and organisations who may want to donate raffle prizes for the event or possibly sponsor a hole. Read more »

Children's Lives - an exhibition at BMAG

Children's Lives examines the lives of children from the 18th century to the present day and is the first major exhibition on childhood to be held in Birmingham.

Running from 24 March – 10 June 2012 in Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery's Gas Hall, Children's Lives will reveal both how the experience of childhood has changed and how it has been understood and constructed by adults over time. It will bring the voice of the child to life and draw the connections between the past and the present into sharper focus. Read more »

Cuts to children and young people's charities

The National Children's Bureau has published Beyond the Cuts: Children's charities adapting to austerity [2.57mB, PDF]. The report says that the 34,000 charities in England that work primarily with children and young people will lose £405 million in statutory funding in the five years from 2011-12 to 2015-16.
