G:XL Voice and Influence - Strategic Representation work stream

Aims

This work stream will:

  • Review how West Midlands children and young people's, voluntary and community sector (CYP VCS) organisations are represented at strategic forums such as CYP Trust Boards, Local Safeguarding Boards or similar and equivilent bodies
  • Identify the needs and views of CYP VCS organisations regarding their representation
  • Encourage and support the engagement of representatives of CYP VCS organisations in influencing decision making, processes, policy, planning and funding
  • Develop work to improve the level and quality of strategic representation for the sector, including amongst underrepresented or so-called 'hard to reach' organisations

Overall Outcome:

By 2012, 20% of VCS CYP infrastructure organisations will report greater influence on policy and practice by their member organisations, through improved infrastructure skills, knowledge and systems as well as outreach engagement of hard to reach and underrepresented groups to participate more fully.
