Improving information and communication

This work stream will build on the capacity, reach and effectiveness of network communication systems and media within the VCS CYP infrastructure to improve the quality and range of information accessible to infrastructure organisations, their network members and service users; andthe filtering, choice and access to news and other disseminated information to meet the particular needs and requirements of organisations and individuals.

Overall Outcome:

By 2012, 20% of VCS CYP organisations will report improved learning and sharing of knowledge through increased network opportunities and electronic communications, which will also equip infrastructure organisations with improved skills and understanding to support grass roots outcomes.

Milestones:

Phase 1

Information needs will have been mapped and analysed, with plans and mechanisms identified to support infrastructure organisations and work-streams in meeting communication needs though local media and the central information hub

Phase 2

Information and communication practitioners from 40% of VCS CYP infrastructure organisations will be trained to contribute to and manage information linking the central hub and local systems

Phase 3

Directories, libraries, news, interactive media will be fully established at the hub, used by all infrastructure organisations, widely publicised and regularly updated

Phase 4

20% of VCS CYP infrastructure organisations will report increased access to relevant information and the associated impact on practice.
