Reach is the only self assessment framework specifically written for youth volunteering in England. It was first developed in 2001 in partnership with youth action workers across England and focuses on the key principles of youth action. Reach makes quality assessment accessible, fun and ensures that it is an integral part of planning for both workers and young people. The toolkit enables organisations to track their progress in a very simple and graphic way. Rather than focusing on the background functions of an organisation, such as staff management and finances, it looks purely at the frontline work with young people. It has 12 headings; Clear about missions and aims; Open and accessible; Induction and progression; rights and responsibilities, Safety, Diverse action, Support, Participation, Reflection and learning; recognition; community benefit, Networking and Partnership. Cross referenced with PQASSO, Investing in Volunteers and Hear by right, it is run by the Youth Action Network (YAN).
